We Unify message of hope event at BC legislature Mar 05, 2022
Wanted to share part of my day here and leave an update on my latest project at the end of this article.
Arrived in downtown Victoria BC at 10:40am & quickly made my way down to the Legislature. One of the first things I noticed was a biker was pulled over at one of the side streets by the legislature.
I originally thought it might have been because of the flag at the end of their bike, though more officers appeared & started pulling over anyone using the side street to circle around the legislature building to honk in protest, the police later closed down one of the two lanes that runs along all sides of the legislature.
Shortly after that I noted a religious group praying up at the front of the legislature by the statue, they later sung hymns, their event was called “message of hope” Was able to note that a pastor helping host the event was from Port Alberni, a kind and caring bunch of people.
The event had a lot of tents setup, counted 12 by the legislature building itself, they were for the People's Party of Canada (peoplespartyofcanada.ca), Action4Canada (action4canada.com), one offering face painting for children, some setup for free coffee/water + snacks I believe hosted by We Unify (weunify.ca), along with one setup for the sound system and another setup for free tulip pins by Lesley & Sophie that carry a meaningful message behind “Tulips for Freedom”. there were also 2 other tents setup on the side by Capital City Baptist Church, they also hosted free coffee & hotdogs.
A short while after I snapped the above photo one of the larger trucks circling the legislature was pulled over on the side street just behind the trees in the photo, I went to go check it out, and a large crowd of people arrived and one chanted “Lets give them another Honk” the police seemed to handle things calmly though it didn’t seem necessary to close down any lanes.
The speakers began a bit later at around 1:15pm, provided a few links below of the speeches I caught, only had enough storage on the camera for 25 minutes worth of footage.

The crowd had grown a fair bit since I first arrived, and it looked as though the prayer & hymns group was later replaced by a new group of drummers, it was uplifting to witness such positive energy.
Thank you for checking out my article, as promised I wanted to offer a bit of a sneak peak for my latest project, it opens up next week, and will begin to offer feeds for parliamentary members in BC along with help track newsletters from over a hundred municipalities in BC, outside of those features many more are planned, along with hopefully services to support the BC community in endeavors to identify matters of public interest and communicate them along with alternative approaches that would better serve public interest. I’ll write a new article once its launched.
